It Happened One Year Ago...
On this day one year ago:
The S&P 500 rose to its highest close in more than three years after a decline in oil prices to $47.42 per barrel sent the Index up 0.91%. The DJIA erased its losses for 2004 after closing up 84.36 points to 10,469.84. Intel announced that President Paul Otellini will replace Barrett as CEO while Microsoft introduced its new search engine to compete with Google.
Oil prices at $47.42? Those were the days.
What a non-event the Microsoft search engine introduction turned out to be. MSFT one year ago: $29.98. MSFT today: $26.86. GOOG one year ago: $183.02. GOOG today: $384.26.
