Google Trends

Yesterday, Google announced the release of their new "Trends" tool. You can check it out at www.google.com/trends. We toyed around with it a little and did a trend search on "real estate bubble". Check out the trend chart displayed below:

The bulk of the "real estate bubble" searches were coming straight out of California, where home prices had risen dramatically. When looking at a chart of the S&P 500 Homebuilder Index, it seems that the homebuilder stocks peaked out at about the same time that the "real estate bubble" searches peaked:

An interesting tool.
