Birinyi Associates recently released a brand new kind of database
covering fundamentals and trading parameters for 1,500 US stocks.
As a special promotion here on Ticker Sense we are making this tool
available to our readers for a limited time. The new Birinyi Stock
Ratings was released to subscribers last week, and will be available to both
newsletter and mini institutional customers at no additional charge.
The new system uses fundamental estimates and technical parameters
to analyze each stock. The fundamental
score is based on
earnings expectations for the quarter and the year, as well as revisions of
these estimates within the last three months. A company expected to post
quarterly and annual earnings growth and has also had upwards earnings
revisions will receive the highest score. The technical score is based on a combination of short and
long-term trend analysis. A stock in a stronger uptrend will receive a
higher technical score; likewise those stocks in downtrends will receive lower
technical scores. The technical score is best used in conjunction with
overbought / oversold characteristics. Stocks with high technical scores
that are oversold present buying opportunities, while overbought stocks with
low technical scores present selling opportunities.
In addition to the new scoring system, the Stock Ratings Database dissects
the universe on the index, sector and finally group levels. Users can
easily drill into a sector and industry group and compare the characteristics
of similar members; this is ideal for market/sector neutral and best in breed
strategies.
Additionally the system is interactive, allowing users to enter a
specific ticker and return the details for that issue. Once a ticker is entered we have also added
the ability to run a custom report highlighting that stock with its peers.
